I felt a bit nervous about this project because I hadn’t done a digital collaborative project in this way before. Especially with someone I have never worked with or seen their art before. I was worried that our work wouldn’t come out well, but in the en,d my style took over the whole project. Since we chose childhood and cartoon nostalgia as a theme, I knew I wanted to use layering filters that were bright and colorful but also a bit overwhelming because, to me, that is what reminds me of my childhood and makes me feel happy and nostalgic. I think because the bright colors and overwhelming crowding go very well with my style of artwork, my partner’s work was lost in the background. One thing I wish had happened a little differently was that I had hoped he would add a lot more to the project because I felt it was a little complicated to make it look collaborative when his additions to the piece were minimal. Another thing I wish we had done differently is to communicate a bit more because although we had communicated, I think if we had done more, like a video call, it would have looked more exciting. Maybe our peers would have gotten the concept of our project. My favorite part of the piece is the rotating stitch because he’s one of my favorite characters of all time, and the scene where he’s wearing the glasses and eating the snowcone constantly replays in my mind. I think that the way I layered him over and over conveyed that.
