Luminous Brainsludge Project Reflection V1

Updated: Aug 27

Overall, I am very proud of how this project came out and how I decided my setup and theme so early on. My setup at the show was excellent; everyone could guess my theme easily during the critique. How my family and friends reacted to the projection mapping and the setup made me incredibly happy because I surprised my family when they looked closely at the videos projected onto the stuffed animals. I also feel like the setup was fun for people to see because the mess on the floor was reminiscent of a child’s mess, and they could add to the mess by throwing their lollipop wrappers to the floor, too. The only thing I wish I had done better was bringing something more stable to angle the projector and clean up the lines where the plushies were hanging off the blanket. I also wish I had found a way to get my home videos in a clearer way because the way I got them dulled the color and made them look dull when they were being projected. This project was enjoyable because it was an installation with digital art and taught me how to combine both in a way that is visually appealing but not super clear. It helped me realize that projections can go on more than just a flat screen and makes me excited to learn more about what I can do with projections and video editing in future projects as I get farther into my artistic career.
